If you are an architect,
designer or developer please use our project
submission form
to advise us of your prefab projects that should be listed here.
The
projects listed here represent explorations of prefab as a design and
construction ideology. For one reason or other the projects do not meet
the requirements to be featured on the fablist.
While some of these projects are in a development phase and might be
expected to appear on the fablist in the near future, many (most) of
these projects will never meet the fablist requirements i.e. they will
not evolve into marketed prefab dwellings for one of several reasons:
architects often experiment with processes which will be incorporated
in different projects at a later date; or a completed project for a
client might have the potential for replication under a prefabrication
model but no entity is driving a commercialization project forward.
Only single-family dwellings qualify for listing in the fabzone. Also
some of these projects are "not quite modernist" in form,
but have characteristics that justify a listing here rather than on
the otherfab page.
The
Dwell Home Design Invitational is a competition launched by Dwell
Magazine "for a modern prefab prototype home designed for mass
production". Although a winner has been chosen (Resolution:
4 Architecture) we will continue to track any developments in the
prefab projects of the other architects.
Projects are listed alphabetically by Designer/Architect. This way multiple
projects by a single designer appear in close proximity.
